🏐🙌🏆 Girls Make County Final 🏆🙌📚
Last Friday, the girls lined out on home soil for a clinch game against a much fancied St Teresa’s PS Lurgan. The historical meeting between these two teams saw them share the spoils in the last blitz winning 3 games each and drawing with one another.
The girls knew coming into this deciding game that there was nothing between the teams. County semi finals don’t come around too often, and after the disappointment of the recent indoor final defeat, the girls were hurting, and were determined to make the Malachy McGeeney final. These would be held in Armagh GAA HQ, the Athletic Grounds. A big prize carrot dangling in front of them.
The game certainly lived up to its billing. It was hotly contested, with an army of home fans cheering the girls on. Half time saw our girls down 4-1, but the second half had the wind at our backs. The girls dug deep in the second half, getting the game back to 5-5. They had a great opportunity in the last seconds to get the winner but it wasn’t to be. Extra time beckoned.
The girls trusted their training. The daily mile running and training standing to us in our fitness. It was tit for tat but the girls ran out eventual 1 point winners after 10 minutes of extra time. A phenomenal result. Athletic Grounds awaits on the 21st of April. It’s sure to be another epic battle.
What an achievement. What a team. Whatever happens, we’re proud of every single one of them.
