🏐 Pearse Ogs Blitz Report 🏐
On Friday past the boys and girls school teams made their way to windswept Pearse Og park for what was a hotly anticipated tournament. We wanted to pit ourselves against the top schools in Armagh and show our improvement from all the after schools skills practices this year to date.
The boys and girls did not disappoint; playing with great pride, passion and skill. Coming through the group section with some heavy wins, the girls progressed through to the semi final where they were narrowly defeated by 1 point against eventual winners CBS. The girls played with great heart and tenacity, and will take strong belief from the performances in this tournament into tournaments later in the year that’s for sure.
The boys team was rich in skill and quality, with the team starting to gel as the tournament progressed. They progressed to the shield final. The boys played with into a gale force wind in the first half of the final, holding their opposition to just one point. We were confident heading into the second half that we could overcome this deficit, however the swirling wind was a challenge to navigate. We kicked several wides before levelling things up. The final whistled sounded. A toss for golden point. Unfortunately tails failed, and we were pitted again against the wind to try and find a golden point. This was too much to do for the boys who were spent.
What a tournament! Thanks to all the organisers and the Pearse Ogs Club for hosting!
