P4 enjoyed making bird cake for the birds that will visit our bird table. We used lard, shredded wheat, sultanas and some dried worms. The lard was a solid at first, then when heat was added, it melted and became a liquid. This was then poured into the dry ingredients of shredded wheat and sultanas. We then scooped the mixture into the pots and sprinkled some dried worms on the top. The bird cake was left to harden and then it was set out at our bird table to feed the hungry birds.
