P4 enjoyed making bird cake for the birds that will visit our bird table. We used lard, shredded wheat, sultanas and some dried worms. We saw how the lard was a solid at first, then when heat was added it melted and became a liquid. This was then poured into the dry ingredients of shredded wheat and sultanas. We then scooped some of the mixture into the pots and we sprinkled some dried worms on the top. The bird cake was set into the store to harden and then we set it out at our bird table to feed the hungry birds.
