Primary 5 Investigate Area

Primary 5 children were investigating area. They worked as part of a group to make metre squares and were able to estimate how many textbooks, children and sheets of paper would fit inside the metre square. They investigated what was the same size, smaller and bigger than a metre square. We then took our metre squares outside into the playground to see how much room they would cover. The children were able to calculate the area and perimeter by putting the metre squares into different positions and layouts.
