Primary 5 Mummify a Tomato
21st Jun 2019
Primary 5 became Ancient Egyptian Embalmers. They 'washed' their tomato with water from the River Nile (anti-bacterial gel). Then they made an incision on the left hand side of the tomato, scooped out the insides and placed them in the 'canopic jars'. They were then able to weigh their tomato to find the pre-mummified weight and recorded this in their topic books. Finally, they filled their tomato with 'natron' ( salt and bicarbonate of soda), placed them in a tub and covered it with cling film to protect it from the air. We can't wait to observe how the tomatoes mummify over the 2 weeks.
