Project 500 Launch Activity and Planets Investigation

Primary 5 pupils are participating in Project 500 in association with Queen's University Belfast. The children are excited to be part of the programme and are eagerly reading books about space and completing some reading activities to fill up their Space Passport. The children have to read a total of 8 books about space. We launched the programme while introducing the children to the topic of Space, exploring the planets within our solar system. We investigated the planets in our solar system and their size using fruits. Then we measured their distance from the sun, using metre sticks and a trundle wheel, and predicted which planet would orbit the sun first.
