Thursday 19th September 2024 will live long in the memory for our whole school community as our Vice-Principal and Armagh All-Ireland winning captain Mr Forker brought Sam Maguire to Our Lady’s.
Mr Forker was accompanied by Stefan Campbell and Niall Grimley and host of other special guests including Michelle O’Neill, Sarah Duffy, Justin McNulty, Kevin Curran, Damien Smyth and Fr Barry Matthews.
St Jarlath’s pipe band led Sam Maguire, Armagh players and guests into our assembly to a rapturous applause.
Leroy Owens performed ‘Back to the Orchard’ which was followed by a few words from our First Minister, Michelle O’Neill. Our pupils asked our All Ireland champions and guests some questions followed by our P6 pupils reciting their poem ‘The Orchard is Ripe’.
Our assembly concluded with all our pupils beautifully singing ‘Bring Sam Home’ and Fr Barry offering a prayer to Our Lady.
Our classes were photographed with Sam Maguire and our pupils then enjoyed a fun day with bouncy castles, games and a visit from the ice cream van.
Our guests enjoyed the opportunity to mingle, enjoy the tasty treats which were supplied by our kitchen staff and Paula Jordan from Orange Box. Thank you.
Our families, past pupils and members from the Tullysaran community came in huge numbers to have their photos taken with the Armagh players and Sam Maguire.
A great day was had by all on a beautiful sunny day. One which we will all remember for a long time.
