Dear parents, carers and school community,
It feels strange to be penning this after all the years when this date would signal ‘back to school’, with all the action that is involved in getting a new school year up and running. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to a change of gear, though I will miss school immensely.
I wish to thank you for the gifts and kind wishes which I have received on my retirement. I am overwhelmed by your generous gifts and humbled by your thoughtful words. Many of you donated to my Just Giving page and this has meant so much to me as you know. I have been absolutely blown away by your generosity and “thank you” seems wholly inadequate.
The children whom I taught have been the heart and soul of my time in the school. They have enriched and shaped my life more than they will ever know. They have given me the small moments and the big events. The joys and the challenges that they experienced became my joys and challenges, and what a privilege and honour it is to be even a small part of their educational journey. As challenging as teaching became as we navigated our corner of the planet through the global pandemic, these moments continued to inspire me.
It has been my privilege to work with the children, but of course it has been a pleasure to work with you parents over the years. The children are blessed to have compassionate, caring, strong and dedicated adults who provide scaffold when they need it, example to follow and unconditional love and praise in abundance. I can honestly say on my retirement that I feel proud, satisfied and enormously grateful to have been given the opportunity to have made an impact or touched the lives of any of the individuals whom I have encountered, child or adult.
I wish you continued joy and strength in your lives and may many ‘good things happen’ in the future.
